Finding the Right Frames for Your Face

Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re shopping for glasses.

Heart-Shaped

A face that’s widest at the temple and tapers down to a pointed chin is called a heart-shaped face. Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift, Ryan Gosling, and Hayden Panettiere all have heart-shaped faces.

The best frames for a heart-shaped face are round or ovular and aren’t too thick or heavy. Frames with upswept curves can help balance out your features. Make sure your frames are slightly wider than the width of your face.

Square-Shaped

A square face features a strong jaw and bold facial features. The width of your forehead, cheekbones, and jaw are all roughly the same. Natalie Portman, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, and Jennifer Aniston all have square faces.

To balance out your face and add some dimension, try frames that are wider than your cheekbones. Round or ovular frames can help soften your angular features. Try cat-eye frames for something with a little more sass.

Face Shape

Every face is different; it’s part of what makes you, you! Different frame shapes look better on different face shapes. No matter what’s hot and trendy, there are always frames which will highlight your style, and make the most of your naturally gorgeous face.

Oval-Shaped

If you have an oval face, your face is longer than it is wide, with a softly rounded jaw. Beyonce, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, and Liv Tyler all have oval-shaped faces.

An oval-shaped face looks great in almost all frames, but you can keep your facial symmetry front and centre with some great square or rectangular frames. If you want to try something bold, give some oversized frames a shot to add drama to your look.

Round-Shaped

Round faces usually showcase softer facial features with a rounded jaw. Usually, the length and width of a round face are about the same. Mila Kunis, Emma Stone, Selena Gomez, and Leonardo DiCaprio all have round faces.

Angular frames like square or rectangular options can add a little bit of structure to your face, and give the illusion of drama. Frames with upswept corners (like wayfarers) can help your face look a little bit slimmer.
